Title: Ten Thousand Skies Above You

Author: Claudia Gray

Publisher: Harper Teen

Genre: Science Fiction

Rating: 3.5/5

Ten Thousand Skies Above You is the second part of the Firebird Series. This series is based on traveling multiverse.

This is a story of Marguerite who’s the perfect traveller for travelling dimensions using Firebird which was devised by her folks. In the first part, Marguerite travelled different worlds to find out her dads murderer. And she ended up finding another truth to the entire tragedy.

In the second part, Marguerite’s parents learn about the splintering of souls in many dimensions. This becomes the most dangerous part of the Firebird and the dimension travelling. Margurite travels several dimensions to collect all the splinters of Pauls soul from different worlds. She can get the data to save her friends Theo’s life. In the end, this book reveals more truth which will blow your mind.

Positives

  • The concept

The story concept is fascinating if you love science fiction. Splintering of souls and then collecting them to have the real one is quite a chocolate ice-cream for one’s imagination. What if a soul gets splintered across thousands of parallel worlds?

Also, some of the worlds are fascinating. The technologies and the way the entire world is amazing. What if there’s a world out there like those, would you travel and visit all of them?

  • Selfless Marguerite

Marguerite is quite selfless because she wants to save herself of other worlds as well. So many times, she had chances to leap out from the body of other world’s Margurite but she never did that. The idea of having a connection with oneself from another world.

Negatives

  • Story Description

The entire story is good but in a few pages, it becomes quite boring because of the extent the author has written about Marguerite’s relation with Paul and Theo.

  • Predictable Story

A reader can predict what will happen in the end.

  • Connection with the characters

Since the main character is travelling several dimensions and it is a fiction story one can’t connect to her. I hope we do once we start travelling dimensions.

Overall, the story is wonderful and readers who didn’t choose to pick up this one after reading the first book are missing something enthralling there.
