Title: Maybe In Another Life
Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid
Publisher: Washington Square Press
Maybe In Another Life is a story of a girl who has been travelling from cities to cities finding her home, finding where she belongs to. Hannah Martin started her school life in her best friends home, away from her parents. She has never really lived with her family. She was more into doing everything on her own without any idea where she was going to settle. Finally, when she comes back to her best friend, Gabby, with whom she has spent most of her life, she finds her home.
The entire story is based on a choice that she makes at a point of her life. This book contains two stories. After coming back to her friend, she goes for a reunion party, where she meets Ethan. Ethan is her school time boyfriend who was really waiting for her. One of the stories starts where she goes home with Gabby and the other one where she stays with Ethan.
Hannah Martin is a bit confusing character as sometimes her emotional changes were so sudden. Her love with cinammon roles is eternal. Ethan is charming in one of the stories whereas dull in the other one. My favourite character in Henry. Henry is a nurse to whom Hannah meets later in her life. He belongs to the world where Hannah didn’t end up with Ethan.
I loved how the author has described the clothes of every other scene, which is a real food to one’s imagination. Also, the author has worked on few details which make the story better.
The writing style isn’t that engaging, but I don’t think any changes could make it right because it’s a simple story except that there are two worlds. If you’re someone who has already read parallel world stories, this book won’t appeal you that much.
If you are someone who is not into science fiction, then yes you can give this book a read.
